I’m on a campaign to show home studio rappers and producers that it DON’T TAKE MUCH. To be fair I did add some extra sauce with the SP-404 SX but I’ll get to that later. I otherwise made this beat completely with the pocket operator. Mostly stock drums if I’m not mistaken because I’m too lazy to load new drums in after my most recent reset of the device.
My Shure SM58 was ran through my Apollo Twin and the plugins used were the CL-1B and Oxford Tape. Maybe I threw a little A-Type but I also lightly round it out with some compression and saturation from Nuro Audio’s Xvox Pro. It always depends on the track and what I’m hearing as far as what I add. I know better than to just slap anything on the mix.

I love the hook. The bars aren’t my best but this is one of those tracks I approach the way I would morning pages, a concept from The Artist’s Way that even the likes of J. Cole has practiced.
I don’t keep up with the morning pages now but with social media being a numbers game I figure why not post a cheesy song about facebook marketplace. I really do like finding great shit there and I’ll likely do a part 2.
